I admin five Pittsburgh Meetup Groups, there are over 200 meetup groups in the Pgh region.  Meetup is just a generic website with a calendar, email list and a THEME (Biking, Hiking, FREE EVENTS, Coffeehouses, Exploring Pgh, Singles, PIZZA, Beer/Wine/Socializing, Networking, Divorce, Support groups, Dogs etc. etc).   Some meetups are more active than others,  helpful to meet new people and do cool things.  Also great to use when traveling.   Most meetups are free, supported by the Main Organizer of that meetup (some ask for donations, dues or just pay for it themselves).  Here are the 10 good meetup events coming up.  I will be posting more soon including a ink and drink happy hour at Artists Image Resources and Allegheny Brewing + BIG KNOB FAIR and FEASTIVAL.   FYI: some events are informative, some social.
