10 meetup events coming up for August and some Sad News.
I admin five Pittsburgh Meetup Groups, there are over 200 meetup groups in the Pgh region. Meetup is just a generic website with a calendar, email list and a THEME (Biking, Hiking, FREE EVENTS, Coffeehouses, Exploring Pgh, Singles, PIZZA, Beer/Wine/Socializing, Networking, Divorce, Support groups, Dogs etc. etc). Some meetups are more active than others, helpful to meet new people and do cool things. Also great to use when traveling. Most meetups are free, supported by the Main Organizer of that meetup (some ask for donations, dues or just pay for it themselves).
Here are the 10 good meetup events coming up. I will be posting more soon including a ink and drink happy hour at Artists Image Resources and Allegheny Brewing + BIG KNOB FAIR and FEASTIVAL. FYI: some events are informative, some social.

Sat Aug 26th Free Jazz Concert at Riverview Park Observatory Hill: Funky Fly Project!
Sat Aug 26th Volunteer + Picnic! Hidden Harvest Apple Picking! Great event to meet others!
Sat Aug 26th COMEDY: Drinking Partners Comedy Presents: Quincy Jones @ Comtra Theatre
Sun Aug 27th FREE MOVIE at Schenley Plaza Park- BFG (Big Friendly Giant) - PG
Sun Aug 27th FREE! Hartwood Acres Concerts: Billy Porter (POP, SOUL, BROADWAY)!
And now for the sad news.
For those that know me (Frank aka Big Kahuna). I started posting events on meetups and the internet beginning with Hikes and Bar Crawls. About 10 1/2 years ago I found a little puppy while hiking in the pouring rain on Country Club Road and I named him "CC." A lil 7lb pup grew to be 110 lbs of best friend. He has met hundreds of meetup people through hikes, ultimate frisbee, picnics, my king crab feasts and other events. CC past away yesterday from cancer, I miss him a heck of a lot. He had a companion dog KT and two cat friends Kaylee and Eige. I'm posting this to help me get over the loss of my bestest buddy. I miss you cc.

I know words do little to ease the pain and loss when such an amazing dog passes on. You’re your memories of CC close to your heart and know that we are keeping you in ours.
