Meetup is a generic website for EVENTS, that has a CALENDAR, and an Email list with a theme (hiking, biking, singles, cultural events etc )and it's for doing EVENTS IN REAL LIFE!

Meetups Sorta Work, but it helps to keep them growing to get other people to become EVENT ORGANIZERS so they can post their own Meetup Events.  Or you gotta have one or more people that are die-hard organizers to keep a group working and also getting new people in to go to events helps a lot.   Whomever is the MAIN ORGANIZER of a MEETUP pays Meetup for the privilege of hosting the group.
